Tyres
Whether you’ve noticed a puncture, uneven wear, or your tyre pressure warning light has come on, getting it checked quickly matters for both safety and the condition of your car. GC Motor Group supply and fit tyres for most makes and models, and can advise on the right option for how and where you drive.
Tyres wear gradually, so it’s easy to miss the early signs. Look out for:
Any of these are worth having looked at promptly, particularly if you’re due a long drive.
Uneven wear is usually a sign of something beyond normal use. Common causes include incorrect tyre pressures, poor wheel alignment, worn suspension components, or a combination of these. If one tyre is wearing faster than the others, it’s worth having the alignment and suspension checked at the same time as the tyres; otherwise the new tyres will wear the same way.
Small punctures in the tread area can often be repaired safely, provided the damage isn’t too close to the tyre wall, and the tyre hasn’t already been repaired previously. If the puncture is in the sidewall, or the tyre has suffered other damage, replacement is the safer option. We’ll inspect the tyre and let you know honestly which route makes sense.
We fit tyres for most makes and models at our workshop in Norwich, with straightforward advice on the right tyre for your car, your budget and how you use it. There’s no upselling or pressure to buy more than you need. If your car needs to be in the workshop longer for anything alongside your tyres, we can also arrange a courtesy car or collect and deliver your vehicle to keep things simple.
Check the tread depth across the tyre, not just in the centre, and look for cracking, bulges or uneven wear. If the tread is close to 1.6mm, or you’ve noticed reduced grip in the wet, it’s time to have them replaced.
Not always, repairs are usually possible for small punctures within the tread area, but sidewall damage or a tyre that’s already been repaired before will need replacing rather than patching.
This is often down to uneven tyre pressures, misaligned wheels, or a fault in the suspension. If your car is experiencing this, it’s worth having it checked promptly, as it can accelerate tyre wear and affect handling.
Not necessarily. It depends on the wear across your tyres and, for some vehicles, whether tyres of different tread depths on the same axle could affect handling. We’ll advise based on your car and its current tyres.
This depends on your vehicle’s tyre size and the tyre you choose. Bring your car into our workshop, and we can advise on suitable options and give you an accurate price.
All work at GC Motor Group follows manufacturer service standards from start to finish, with original equipment parts used as standard, giving you the reassurance of dealer-level care, delivered by an independent garage you can trust.
